The historic Hotel Sofitel Dalat Palace was the scene of state dinners hosted by Emperor Bao Dai as well as 1946 negotiations between the French and Vietminh about governing Vietnam. Japan had withdrawn, and the French refused to accept Vietminh demands for independence. The author wondered who might have slept in this room.
